Shine

Matthew 5.16Life isn’t perfect. Our best efforts are never enough. We suffer from guilt, fear, and failure. We see our family and friends struggle. We witness hurt and pain. We don’t understand.

In this darkness, Jesus is the light.

Jesus offers salvation from this world and hope for a world to come. He covers our weaknesses and takes our guilt away. He fills us with joy and love. He calls us to share that with those around us who find themselves in darkness. He calls us to shine!

Not sure what to do? Try these three simple steps:

1. Know that you are a precious child of God!

2. Smile.

3. Express gratitude for your life.

And to get pumped for the day, take a listen to the Newboys classic hit, “Shine,” live from Texas…

Shine
Make ’em wonder what you’ve got
Make ’em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored
Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let ’em see good works, and then
Let ’em glorify the Lord

That is all. Happy Friday!

Live Like That: Weekend Praise

Each weekend holds endless possibilities. And, we determine how to embrace it. I don’t know what your weekend looks like, but I challenge you, as God challenges me, to live in a way that reveals God’s love to everyone you encounter. Be careful how you live

This Sidewalk Prophets song can inspire us today.

Ask yourself the question, “Was I love?”

May you Live Like That today and always!

Live Like That

by Sidewalk Prophets

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I’m only just a memory
When I’m home where my soul belongs

Was I love
When no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of us
Was my worship more than just a song

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

Am I proof
That You are who you say You are
That grace can really change our heart
Do I live like Your love is true

People pass
And even if they don’t know my name
Is there evidence that I’ve been changed
When they see me, do they see You

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

I want to show the world the love You gave for me
I’m longing for the world to know the glory of the King

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that
I want to live like that

Are We Listening?

Our world is in pain. Countries are at war. Innocents are helpless victims. The poor starve and die from preventable and curable diseases. There is much work to be done.

What about in our own communities? There are people at war with themselves, who feel helpless, and who are thirsty and hungry for more.

Casting Crowns’ “Does Anybody Hear Her?” captures one such struggle beautifully.

Not everyone is blessed with a happy ending of hope like this young woman. Who around you needs hope? Who can you share your faith with? Who needs the power of forgiveness and love?

Are We Listening?
