Cry Out to Jesus: A Late Night Media Monday

Third Day’s Miracle Tour
Franklin, NC October 13, 2013

Last night, Coach and I rocked out like we did in college. Well, sort of. We went to see his favorite Christian band, Third Day. We shared the experience with our youth group, pastor, and like-minded friends who showed up. And it was without the kids! What a treat!

Mac Powell has a truly amazing voice. It’s so rich, fluid and melodic when it needs to be and raspy rock when required. And he’s just as good in person as he is in the studio, the mark of a true musician. Such a joy to listen to! The keyboardist was also insane. So talented!

Their songs have great lyrics and such great faith and love behind them. I sing along to their songs in our rockin’ mini-van frequently, but last night I spent more time in contemplative worship while they sang. It was so loud I couldn’t hear myself sing anyway.

As I pondered their many songs, this song really spoke to me:

We have all been there. A place where we didn’t know what to do, where to turn, how we would get by, how we would forgive ourselves, how would survive. A place where we were so honestly seeking. My hope and prayer is that we always do what this songs suggests:

May we always cry out to Jesus!
